ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) – The UCF track and field team was recognized by the USTFCCCA as the No. 10 team in the nation in its first poll of the regular season Tuesday. The Knights are the only Conference USA team present in the rankings and are second only to Florida (No. 7) among programs in the state of Florida.
Clemson maintained its No. 1 spot from the preseason and is followed by Kansas, reigning national champion Oregon, Texas A&M and Arkansas.
The team moved up one spot from its preseason ranking. Five Knights currently boast eight marks that rank among the top 15 in the nation in their respective events.
Coupled with the outdoor season, UCF has not fallen out of the top 25 dating to April 26, 2011. The Knights will travel next to the Hokie Invitational in Blacksburg, Va., on Jan. 25-26, and will also compete in the Jimmy Carnes Invitational in Gainesville on Jan. 27.
