FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (UCFAthletics.com) - Three underclassmen shined in the 200 meters on Saturday as the No. 5 UCF track and field team wrapped up competition at the Tyson Invitational at Arkansas and the Tiger Paw Invitational in Clemson, S.C., on Saturday.

Freshmen Octavious Freeman and Christal Peterson both ran personal bests in the 200 meters. Freeman paced four Knights in the event with a fourth-place finish of 23.56 while Peterson clocked 24.48. Freeman matches sophomore Aurieyall Scottfor the best 200-meter time of any Conference USA sprinter this season.

At the Tiger Paw Invitational, sophomore Tyler Smithran a season-best 24.53* for third place in the 200 meters to earn the first medal of her collegiate career.

Senior Tomika Storynearly matched her personal best in the triple jump with a mark of 12.42m/40-9 for sixth place.

The Knights will take the next two weeks to prepare for their return as reigning champion to the Conference USA Championships in Birmingham, Ala., on Feb. 25-26.
