ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - UCF women's tennis head coach Stephanie Nickitas has been elected as a regional representative on the 2009-11 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Operating Committee. Nickitas recently completed her second campaign guiding the Knights.
As a member of the ITA Division I Operating Committee, Nickitas will help oversee compliance with rules and regulations in regards to ITA tournaments, dual match play and rankings, and also participate in the annual operating committee meetings at the ITA Convention, which is held each December. Nickitas was one of 15 coaches nationally named to the committee.
Nickitas is already an ITA Regional committee member. In that role, she helps decide individual regional singles and doubles rankings among other duties.
UCF won 12 contests during the 2009 spring campaign. Three of Nickitas' players received individual honors as junior Katie Orletsky (Titusville, Fla.) was selected as the Conference USA Newcomer of the Year and senior Elvira Serrot (Madrid, Spain) and sophomore Jenny Frisell (Gothenburg, Sweden) were named an all-conference doubles tandem. Frisell also earned All-C-USA Second Team honors.
