ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Already a member of the Conference USA All-Academic Team, UCF women's tennis senior Taylor Dubins was voted onto the All-C-USA Third Team the league office announced Friday. The North Miami Beach native paced the Knights with an 18-9 singles record during the 2011-12 season.
Dubins joined UCF as a freshman in the spring of 2009 where she competed in one singles match, which she won against Louisiana-Lafayette. She then broke out as a sophomore by going 15-11 in singles and 11-9 in doubles play.
As a senior, Dubins racked up 18 singles wins including posting seven-straight victories to end her collegiate career. She went 11-5 at the No. 4 position as well as 13-5 in tournament play. Dubins opened the fall with five-consecutive triumphs highlighted by three over opponents from South Florida. She went on to collect key wins in the spring against Florida State, East Carolina, Michigan State, Iowa, Harvard and FAU. On the doubles court, Dubins combined with Andrea Yacaman for a 15-10 record.
Dubins held a 3.77 grade-point average when she was placed on the C-USA All-Academic Team. She was a three-time member of the C-USA Honor Roll and earned the Academic Medal twice for having a GPA of at least 3.75. Dubins also received ITA Scholar-Athlete status in 2011.
