ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The No. 8 UCF women's soccer team continues its four-match homestand this weekend when Tulsa and SMU roll into town. The Knights (9-2-1, 3-1-0) face the Golden Hurricane (6-4-2, 1-2-1) at 7 p.m. Friday before meeting the Mustangs (5-5-2, 1-1-2) at 1 p.m. Sunday.
UCF, which has stood among the nation's top 10 for seven-straight weeks, is currently riding a six-game home-winning streak heading into this weekend's contests. Of those six wins, five have been shutouts, including the Knights' milestone victory against Rice last Sunday. The 1-0 decision marked UCF's 100th win at home under Amanda Cromwell in her 14-year tenure.
Friday's matchup pits two stout defenses against each other as UCF and Tulsa rank first and second, respectively, in the conference for goals allowed and goals-against averages.
Claire Nicholson paces Tulsa in goals (5) and points (12), while keepers Katie Bykowski and Hayley Harryman have split nearly equal time between the posts.
SMU travels to Orlando on Sunday from a game at Southern Miss on Friday. Heading into the weekend, the Mustangs have dropped only one of their last four matches. Junior defender Courtney Smith leads Conference USA in total assists with eight to rank third in the nation. Shleby Redman and Kenzie Scovill lead the scoring attack with six goals apiece.
Sunday will also serve as Hispanic Heritage Day with a `Los Knights' T-shirt raffle and a $100 gift-card giveaway to Bravo Supermarkets.
UCF's soccer scarf is now available for a discounted price of $15 and includes entry to the remaining home games. The Gold Pass, which includes season tickets to all volleyball, men's and women's soccer, women's basketball, softball and track and field contests, is also available now.
