ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) – The UCF rowing team opens its spring season this weekend at the 33rd Annual 2013 Metro Cup Regatta in Winter Park. In a long standing tradition, UCF will compete against Rollins Collins.

In the Metro Cup Regatta last year, the Knights’ novice rowing team took home the Yeuell Trophy for the second year in a row. This year, the novices will participate in three events, with their first event starting at 8:45 a.m. The Knights will compete in two other events, one at 10 a.m. and the last at 11:15 a.m.

This is the second time on the water for the Knights this year after an early February exhibition race against Michigan. UCF will compete in a total of seven races in the season and hope to improve upon last year’s finish, where they placed fourth in the Conference USA Championship.

UCF’s next meet is at its home course on March 9, when the varsity and novice teams compete against Northeastern. The novice team will also be competing against Florida.
