ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The field of competition has been revealed, and the UCF women's basketball team is one of eight schools slated to compete at the 2012 Puerto Vallarta Hardwood Tournament of Hope on Nov. 20-22 in Mexico.

The Knights will join UC Santa Barbara, Louisville, Missouri State, Oregon State, Winthrop and two other programs yet to be announced at the new state-of-the-art Puerto Vallarta International Convention Center next season for the inaugural tournament.

Although a complete bracket will be revealed at a later date, the Knights are guaranteed three games during the three-day tournament, and there are already some interesting connections with the opposing competition.

UCF assistant coach Courtney Locke, who just rejoined the team and will begin her fourth season overall as an assistant, spent last year at UC Santa Barbara as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. Meanwhile, Oregon State is the former home of UCF Vice President and Director of Athletics Todd Stansbury, who served as an executive associate athletic director for eight years. Also, the Knights could have an opportunity to face future BIG EAST opponent Louisville.

This prestigious event is sponsored by the Missouri Valley Conference and proceeds will be used to raise awareness, support and research for the National Urea Cycle Disorders Foundation. The vision, direction and leadership of this event is provided by Plan BC3, LLC.

Fans who wish to attend can obtain more information about the tournament, including travel packages, at www.planbc3.com or by phone at 314-757-7554.
