Tari Phillips played for the University of Central Florida one season after transferring from the University of Georgia and left an indelible mark on the UCF record books. She set UCF records for best scoring average (25.3) and best rebound average (12.4) in a season. She also tallied UCF's top three single-game scoring performances as well as the top rebounding effort. She scored 45 points against Lamar and grabbed 23 rebounds vs. Texas Pan-American in February of 1991. She started her post-UCF career in the American Basketball League, where she was named the Most Valuable Player of the All-Star Game. She was then drafted eighth overall in the WNBA draft. She was named the WNBA's Most Improved Player in 2000. She played in the WNBA All-Star game several times and in 2002 she won a gold medal with Team USA at the World Championships.
