WINDERMERE, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF golf team sits in 12th place after the second day of the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational at the Isleworth Golf & Country Club. The Knights carded a score of 306 to go +18 for the day and +26 for the event.
Junior Greg Eason shined in the second round as he shot a one-under 71 to vault himself into the top 10 on the individual leaderboard. He was followed by Ricardo Gouveia and Kyle Wilshire, who each carded a 77 on the day. Jose Joia and Reid Martin rounded out the scoring for the Knights as they shot 81 and 82 respectively.
California maintained its overall lead after shooting a +7 in the second round of the event for an overall score of +3 after two rounds. The Golden Bears were led by Michael Kim, who shot an even-par 72 to maintain his individual lead for the event at -5. Kim and his teammates saw their lead cut to three strokes by Illinois, which shot a 3-over 291 for the second-consecutive day.
Kim's stretched his overall lead from one stroke to three, but Florida's Tyler McCumber is in striking distance after surging 20 spots up the leaderboard into a tie for second following the day's low round of 68. McCumber is at 2-under with New Mexico's James Erkenbeck and Texas' Jordan Spieth.
Tuesday's final round is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. The Knights' five golfers will tee off at 8:25, 8:35, 8:45, 8:55 and 9:05.
