ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Thanks to a five-game winning streak, a 7-2 overall record and a 5-0 mark in Conference USA, the UCF football team is once again receiving votes in the latest top-25 national polls. The Knights are picking up 15 votes in the Associated Press poll to place 33rd overall, and 12 votes in the USA Today Coaches Poll to rank 36th.
Earlier in the year, UCF was receiving votes in the first two polls of the season, and its only losses of 2012 were at undefeated Ohio State and vs. Missouri. The last time the Knights entered the top 25 was in the final poll of 2010 when they were ranked 20th in the coaches poll and 21st in the AP poll.
In all, UCF has received votes in at least one poll in six of the last eight seasons.
The Knights are coming off a 42-17 Homecoming win over SMU Nov. 3, and have scored at least 35 points in every contest during the winning streak. They are averaging 36.7 points per game on the year, which currently ranks as the second-highest average in UCF history.
Meanwhile, the UCF defense is first in C-USA in total, scoring, passing and passing efficiency defense. The Black and Gold ranks first in the league in scoring differential with a plus-142 margin, and in league games only, UCF has scored the most points (209) while allowing the fewest (102).
UCF has now turned its attention toward a two-game road trip beginning Saturday at UTEP at 7 p.m. ET. Single-game tickets for the regular-season finale vs. UAB Nov. 24 start at just $25.
