UCF Head Coach George O'Leary
On his team's performance:
"It was a good win, a good first conference win. I think all three areas: offense, defense and special teams had something to do with the win. It was special teams that gave us the spark with the 99-yard touchdown return and the next punt return by (J.J.) Worton. Again, a good win against a good football team. So, I'm happy to get the first conference win and get ready for the next conference game at home next Saturday."
On going down early:
"You go down 14-0, on just really I thought some sloppy tackling and some sloppy play by the secondary. They settled down and I thought we started playing to the speed of the game and in the beginning we weren't. Offensively, what got us in trouble early was we were getting down in the red zone and coming away with field goals instead of touchdowns. You've got to put the ball in the end zone down there and again, you like to have some of the calls and plays back, but we came away with field goals. I thought the difference in the second half was those became touchdowns."
On bouncing back and responding strong:
"I think we have a team that perseverance-wise, is very resilient. Especially after last week, you go down 14-0 right away, I think we have a good group of seniors that hung there. And again, I thought that kickoff return couldn't have occurred at a better time. We were waiting to break one and it came at a great time as far as just to uplift the sideline."
