Andrew Thacker begins his first season as the defensive graduate assistant with the UCF football program.
Thacker joins the UCF staff after finishing his collegiate playing career at Furman. A four-year starter at safety for the Paladins, Thacker was the 2004 Southern Conference Freshman of the Year.
During his four years at Furman, his team went a combined 35-15 and made three NCAA Football Championship Subdivion playoff appearances, including a semifinal run in 2005.
Thacker earned undergraduate degrees at Furman in political science and spanish. He earned spots on the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll all four years and was a GTE Academic All-District honoree in 2005, 2006 and 2007.
Thacker will be pursuing a master's degree in political science during his time at UCF.
