ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Calvin Newell will make his much-anticipated UCF debut Wednesday when the Knights host Bethune-Cookman at 7 p.m. at the UCF Arena. Newell, a dynamic guard, has sat out the last year after transferring from Oklahoma.
The Philadelphia native should provide instant offense for the Knights. In five games for the Sooners last fall, Newell averaged 13.0 points in only 19.6 minutes per contest. He should see time at both guard spots for the Knights.
"I am ready to play," Newell said. "I am a big competitor. I am ready to get out there and compete with my teammates. Everything that I have been doing in practice, I am ready to use that in a game atmosphere."
