ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Following its big victory over USF, the UCF men's basketball team will make its home debut Tuesday against Alabama State at 7 p.m. at the UCF Arena. Behind an impressive performance by Isaiah Sykes, the Knights rolled to a 74-56 win at cross-state rival USF Saturday.
Sykes nearly recorded a triple-double in the win over the Bulls, who won a pair of games in the NCAA Tournament last year, and finished with 26 points, 11 rebounds and a career-high eight assists. He was one of four Knights who totaled double figures in scoring at USF. Keith Clanton added 16 points and a game-high 16 rebounds for the double-double.
The contest against Alabama State is the first of a school-record 20 games at home this season for the Knights. Season tickets, which start at only $96, are currently available by calling (407) UCF-1000 or by visiting UCFAthletics.com.
UCF has won 20-consecutive home non-league games, dating back to the start of Donnie Jones' tenure with the Knights in 2010. Last season, the Knights went 16-1 at the UCF Arena.
Alabama State is 0-2 this season, but has faced a challenging schedule with contests at No. 10 Florida and 2012 NIT participant Middle Tennessee State.
On Tuesday, fans can purchase tickets prior to the game at the UCF Arena box office. UCF students are admitted free to all home contests with a valid school ID.
The game will air on the UCF IMG Sports Network and its flagship station, 740 The Game in Orlando. Marc Daniels is back to handle the play-by-play duties and will be joined by former UCF guard Taylor Young. Live video and statistics will be available at UCFAthletics.com.
