ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - As the Conference USA Preseason Player of the Year, Keith Clanton knows that he is no longer under the radar. The forward has garnered plenty of attention since the summer when he elected to remain at UCF for his senior year.
The Orlando native has embraced the extra recognition, which has included an increase in media coverage and his name popping up on websites that list the top players in the country.
"The attention I've been getting, it hasn't affected me at all. I am still a humble guy. If I keep progressing like I have been, it will benefit me in the end. That is what I am looking forward to," he said.
As one of the few veterans on a young squad, the former Orlando Christian Prep star is enjoying his new leadership role and is happy to talk about his team's goals for the year.
"We can still win the regular (season) conference championship," Clanton said. "We want to come in and win every game that we can. We feel like we can compete with every team that is on our schedule."
That schedule, as well as Clanton's highly-anticipated senior season, starts Saturday with a showdown in Tampa against cross-state rival USF.
