ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - UCF enjoyed a productive 2011-12 campaign which culminated with the program's first appearance in the postseason National Invitation Tournament. The Knights concluded the season with a 22-11 overall record under second-year head coach Donnie Jones.
UCF enjoyed many notable accomplishments during the season:
UCF's 22 victories were the third-most since the program moved to the Division I level in 1984
The Knights have now recorded back-to-back 20-win campaigns under Jones and the program has only had consecutive 20-victory seasons on three occasions
UCF's NIT selection was the first for the program
The team's 10 Conference USA victories were the second-most for UCF since joining the league in 2005
UCF's third-place finish in C-USA was the second-best for the program since joining the conference
The Knights advanced to the C-USA Championship semifinals for the first time after posting a quarterfinal victory over UAB
The Knights defeated a top-5 ranked team - No. 4 UConn - for the first time in program history
UCF topped league foes Memphis (0-10 entering the year) and UAB (0-7) for the first time
Keith Clanton became just the second Knight, joining Jermaine Taylor (2008-09), to earn All-C-USA First Team honors
Clanton recorded 59 blocks, good for third on the school single-season register
His 266 rebounds ranked fifth in school history, and were the second-most recorded by a Knight at the D-I level
Marcus Jordan established a new school single-season minutes record (1,112)
Clanton moved to 11th on the school career points register with 1,260 and Jordan moved to 14th (1,182)
During the campaign, Clanton became UCF's all-time leader in blocks (164)
Clanton moved to third on the career rebounds list with 737
Jordan moved to fourth in career free throws (350) and third in career free-throw attempts (474)
A.J. Rompza finished his career second all-time at UCF in steals (211) and third in assists (487)
Rompza also concluded his time as the Knight seventh in C-USA history in career steals
P.J. Gaynor ended his career with 121 appearances, good for fourth on the school games played list
