Bryan Peters completed his first year with the UCF baseball program in 2006-07, and has an extensive list of coaching experience that will assuredly help the Knights continue their rise in C-USA. Peters serves as the hitting coach while also working with the infielders.
In his debut season, the 2007 Knights eclipsed most of their offensive totals from 2006, including batting average, runs scored, on-base percentage, stolen bases, sacrifice flies and sac bunts. They also had more walks and fewer strikeouts than the 2006 campaign. Peters assisted in guiding Kiko Vazquez to becoming a All-C-USA First Team honoree as the first baseman shattered his totals from his first season. Vazquez boasted a .364 batting average with nine homers and 57 RBI. Also shining with the stick, center fielder Tyson Auer was selected to the All-C-USA Second Team and third baseman Chris Duffy nabbed a spot on the C-USA All-Freshman Team.
Peters came to Orlando after working as an assistant coach with Stetson. He helped out with the outfielders and was the team's first base coach. Prior to Stetson, Peters spent nine years as an assistant at USF and two years as a player with the Bulls. He was USF's recruiting coordinator and hitting instructor and also worked with the defense, base running and conditioning.
One of the most versatile players on the team during his career at USF (1995-96), Peters earned time at second base, shortstop, third base, left field and on the mound. He helped guide the Bulls to two regular season conference titles and two NCAA Regional appearances as a player and to three NCAA berths (1997, 2001, 2002) as a coach.
In 1997, Peters spent parts of two months in Puerto Rico coaching a Roberto Clemente all-star team of 15- and 16-year olds. He has also coached at several camps and clinics and presented lectures on hitting at the Florida High School Coaches Association annual workshop.
A native of Lancaster, Calif., Peters was an all-conference performer at Antelope Valley (Calif.) Community College. He later transferred to USF where he earned his bachelor's degree in speech communication in 1997.
