Academic Services for Student-Athletes

The University of Central Florida makes a daily commitment to prepare its student-athletes to meet the challenges of their academic and athletic environment. As a part of the University's Division of Student Development and Enrollment Services (SDES), the Department of Academic Services for Student-Athletes (ASSA) works in collaboration with the Athletic Department and other University Offices to establish and achieve their personal academic, NCAA Division I academic-athletic eligibility, and career planning goals.

In addition, ASSA assists student-athletes in their effort to maintain a balance by participation in the NCAA CHAMPS Life Skills Program. CHAMPS focuses on five commitments: athletic excellence, academic excellence, personal development, service, and career development.

ASSA assists students in making a successful transition to University life by providing answers to questions as they arise, solutions for problems students might encounter, and an opportunity to meet faculty and staff at the University of Central Florida. These efforts and others culminate for the student with graduation, job placement or continued education.

Through cooperation with college departments and professional advisors, student-athletes are offered guidance into major and minor fields of study. Additional University support services provided include organized study sessions, tutorial services, time management, study skills instruction and direction for establishing college success strategies.
