Schefstad received her B.S.B.A. in finance with a minor in computer science in 1980 and has 30 years experience in all phases of bank financial services. She joined Raymond James Financial Inc. in June 1993 tasked with the specific objective to obtain a bank charter demonstrating the company's commitment to stay on the leading edge of the financial services industry.

She set industry precedent by obtaining the Raymond James Bank charter in 1994. Raymond James Bank has been profitable since its first full year of operation.

Schefstad retired from the bank in December 2005.

She has won numerous awards throughout her career and was named as one of the "Top 25 Most Powerful Women in Banking," by US Banker in 2005.

She is a member of the College of Business Administration's Dean's Executive Council and was awarded the Professional Achievement Award from the college in 2000.
