Sheila Klausner Position: Physical Therapist Department: Sports Medicine

Sheila Klausner graduated with her Bachelor of Science degree in 1990 from North Carolina State University. She competed in collegiate swimming while attending the university. Klausner then completed her Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy in 1993 from the University of Miami.

She began her career practicing in Phoenix, Ariz., in orthopedics and sportsmedicine. While in Phoenix, Klausner assisted in the care of the Arizona Diamondbacks as they began their organization. She also began her involvement with USA Swimming teaching rehabilitation and prevention at local swimming camps. Klausner received her strength and conditioning certification in 1997 with the National Strength and Conditioning Association. She became a member of the USA Swimming Sports Medicine Network in 1999.

She has been traveling internationally with the National Team since that time and has had the honor of assisting in medical care at the past two summer Olympic games.

In 2000, Klausner relocated to Columbia, S.C. and worked in conjunction with the USC sports medicine department assisting in rehabilitation of all athletic teams. She earned her board specialty certification in orthopedic physical therapy in 2003. She then gained her license in massage therapy in 2004.

She currently works as a physical therapist for Florida Hospital and provides the physical therapy care to the athletes at the University of Central Florida. This summer she completed a massage therapist internship at the United States Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif.
