Jonathan Evans presently serves UCF Athletics as its Director of Business Services and has been in that capacity since May 2008. In his role, he is primarily responsible for the day to day budget operations of the athletics department. He supervises the accounts payable and the business office staff and approves department purchase orders. His position also approves all invoices and travel reimbursements for payment as well as assisting the CFO in creating operating budget for the department. The director of business services also completes the required federal and NCAA financial reports; provides training and education of Business Office Policies and Procedures to employees; and monitors and give monthly updates to director of athletics on current budget position.
Evans began his tenure with UCF Athletics in the compliance office as the assistant director of compliance from 2007-08. In that role, he was responsible for the posting of athletic financial awards, assignment of athletic housing, production of and distribution of National Letter of Intent and the distribution of Student Assistance Funds. Evans also assisted the director of compliance in the monitoring of all sports for rules compliance and rules education seminars.
Prior to UCF, Evans spent 2005-06 as an American history teacher at Jinks Middle School with the Bay County School District in Panama City. He has certificates of eligibility for social sciences (6-12) and guidance counseling (K-12).
Evans had a long working relationship with Florida A&M University, spanning over 10 years from 1993-2005, serving the program in many capacities.
From 1996-05, Evans worked in the FAMU compliance office, last as the assistant athletic director for compliance and academic affairs (2000-05). In that role, Evans supervised the daily operation of the Athletic Academic Learning Center; supervised two full-time athletic academic advisors and seven part-time staff members; supervision of male Olympic sport programs; insure that all tutors were available for student-athletes; report to coaches the attendance of their student-athletes at required tutorial sessions; and responsibility for the review of all student-athlete registration.
In addition to his compliance duties at FAMU, Evans was also athletics facilities coordinator from 1996-03 and head golf coach from 1994-01. He began his tenure at FAMU as the men's basketball graduate assistant from 1993-96.
Evans received his bachelors of Science degree in 1993 from West Virginia University in social studies education/coaching certificate. He then earned a Masters in counseling education from FAMU in 1996.
