Thriving in the Classroom

Knights' spring GPA over 3.0 for ninth-consecutive semester

Eric DeSalvo serves as an assistant director in the UCF Athletics Communications office and returned to Orlando in the fall of 2011 after graduating from UCF in 2009. DeSalvo oversees the day-to-day media relations efforts for the baseball and football programs.

During the 2011-12 academic year, the Jacksonville, Fla., native worked alongside the volleyball, rowing and women's golf programs as well. He was named the American Volleyball Coaches Association Midwest Region Sports Information Director of the Year.

Before returning to UCF, DeSalvo earned his M.A. in Applied Communication in 2011 from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Ariz., while serving as a graduate assistant in the media relations office. He was the primary contact for the nationally ranked cross country and track & field teams.

During DeSalvo's time as an undergraduate student at UCF, he interned in the athletics communications office and served as the men's tennis media contact while also assisting on gamedays for football, men's and women's basketball and volleyball.

DeSalvo has worked several important events in his career, including the 2011 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament Second and Third Round Tucson, Ariz., site as a volunteer on the media relations staff. He also covered the 2009-10 NCAA Cross Country Championships and 2010-11 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships for NAU.
