ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) – Thirty-six UCF student-athletes were honored Wednesday by the UCF Office of First Year Advising and Exploration (FYAE), which held its annual First Year Scholars Reception.
The event recognizes high-achieving first-year student scholars. Nine of the Knights’ athletic teams -- football, women’s tennis, rowing, women’s soccer, cross country, men’s golf, softball, men’s basketball and men’s soccer -- had representatives invited to be part of the First Year Scholar Reception. First-year students with grade-point averages of 3.5 or better were included.
“The entire campus and athletic department should be very proud of these young scholars, who have demonstrated their academic skills early on in their time here at UCF,” said Kimya Massey, Associate Director of Athletics for Academic Services. “They have laid the foundation for future success and truly led their peers at the beginning of their college careers. We are pleased that such a high number of our freshman student-athletes are achieving at this level and we’re excited about what the future holds for them.”
