ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - News and notes from the UCF football team for Friday, Aug. 3. Today's practice has been moved to the evening, as the Knights will take the field from 6:50-8:50 p.m.
News
-Tonight's
practice will be the first in which the Knights will put on the shoulder pads.
-UCF's
first head coach in program history, Don Jonas, was out at practice Thursday
and spoke to the team as well. He coached the Knights from 1979-81 and finished
with a 14-12-1 overall record.
-The
Knights received five votes in the 2012 USA Today Preseason Coaches' Poll,
which would put them in 41st place just ahead of FIU and Missouri
which earned three votes each.
-Senior wide receiver/kick returner Quincy McDuffie was named to the Paul Hornung Award Watch List Thursday. The award is handed out to the nation's most versatile player. McDuffie was one of only three players from Conference USA who was selected to the watch list.

Stat of the Day
-In UCF's six home games last year, Brynn Harvey rushed for 397 yards while Latavius Murray totaled 394 yards. In terms of average per carry, Murray had a 7.9 average while Harvey posted a 5.0 mark.

Aug. 4-18, practices are scheduled for 3:15-5:30 p.m., but check @UCF_Football
on Twitter for any announcement of time changes.
-The Knights also will be in shoulder pads for Saturday's practice.
